Best Black Celebrity Hair Styles of 2009

It's coming to the end of the year and Black Hair Blog in Macon,GA is in reflection of what was hot and not in Hollywood with Black hair. Of course there are hits but there were some misses also, the best advice that BHMG would give to African American/Ethnic Starlet in 2010, is to be futuristic. Rhianna, was the one muse that really brought inspiration to the hair world for editorials, hair salons, and even the wig companies cashed in on her inspirational look. As did Beyonce with her sleek and glamourous looks,Beyonce's stylist Kimberly Kimbel (which I have had an opportunity to meet and sit in one of her classes) has the talent to deliver hot looks for Mrs. Knowles in every way. Some celebrities that have kept me in the balance is Mary J. Blige, I think that Mary J. Blige has kept it safe these last two years and she was definately giving us the hotness in previous years. Although, Mary J. Blige, shares the same celebrity Hair Stylist as Beyonce, Ms. Kimberly Kimble. However, the color is always a cut above but on the same note Mary J. Blige needs to let Kimble get creative. With no futher delaying this is the top ten heavy hitter Starletes that brought it in 2009!

1. Oprah Winfrey- This year Oprah inspired us to go without the weaves/wigs and just let your hair breathe. When Chris Rock was a guest on her show promoting his movie "Good Hair", she was fearless when she allowed him to dig down in her scalp and feel how healthy and beautiful her hair really was. !
2. Taraji P. Henson- Taraji gavec us the classic look of the Bob at the Oscars, when she attended for her first Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Queenie in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".
3. Halle Berry- I was so excited to see that Halle made a hair comeback on Jay Leno's show last month. Short, sexy, and sleek hair is for Halle and her fans.
4. Rhianna- This girl is always evolving her hair styles, she leaves the public wanting more. Whether it's her sleek bob or her edgy punked out look. Rhianna is always making waves with her looks.
5. Nene Leakes- I was so glad to see the transformed short blonde hair style that she had sported all season in "The Real Housewives of Atlanta". The reunion show of season two really showcased her new reinvented look for what's to come in her life. So whatch out America Nene Leaks is coming with her best.
6. Sheree Whitfield- Another "Atlanta Housewife" that gave us a beautiful sleek and sophisticated look with her straight tresses and edgy bang. Her Hair Stylist Lawrence is really talented in her precision in hair motion.
7. Queen Latifah- This sista took a risk and cut if all off, her sharp razored cut was a glorius change for a woman that can look nothing less than regal.
8. Keisha Knight Pulliam- This charming Atlanta socialite is all about body moving hair. On Tyler Perry's "House of Payne", she plays Amanda Payne and her hair is always neat, flowing, and it has the perfect sheen.
9. Chrisette Michelle- As she belts out her melodic tones, Chrisette Michelle is inspiring Black women to be bold and courageous with their hair tattoo. Chrisette, makes no apologies for her punk-glamed look.
10. Mary Mary- They're always giving us a new look to their trademarked looks. It's not easy finding a cohesiveness for individuality. However, Mary Mary dosen't hold it back in color and sharpness to their style.

11. Michelle Obama- "What can I say, the First Lady is bringing in first rate style".

Bonus: An additional honorary nominee that really made a bold statement this year is Amber Rose. Girlfriend to Kanye West and born in the Virgin Islands this celebrity was scene in all of Black Hollywood this year. She is our honorary nominee because she did what a lot of African American women would not do in Hollywood and that's going bald and beautiful.

But the award of Best Hair from Black Hair in Macon Georgia goes to none other than, Oprah Winfrey, because she let millions of Americans know that Black women have some of the best hair in the world. She used her daytime platform to give many to see that Black women can have the man and the hair too.

Well there you have it the top ten best celebrity hair styles of 2009. We were so dissapointed that no one gave a bold statement with their natural look this year. I know celebrities like Ledisi, Erika Badu, and Jill Scott have set the natural bar high but now it's time for another celebrity to be bold as these three ladies.
