Good Hair Movie- "A funny Take on an Age Old Problem"

G
ood Hair was a great take on an age old problem in the African American community. Chris Rock has always been know for making his audience make a double-take response to his comedy, and this time it was his inspiration of educating his daughters that gave a comedic narration through out Good Hair.

I like the simple interviews that Chris Brown was able to give to these starlettes that hold their beauty secrets and especially hair secrets in the highest of regards. Nia Long was very open about how hair in the black community especially females that drive the black beauty supply industry in the billions of revenue every year, was even wrapped around their love life. The voyage to India was an experience and the temple sacrifices of hair offerings that are shaved off from thousands of worshipers everyday really parallel the love and hope that hair can bring to mankind.

The climax of Good Hair was the Bronner Bros hair show held twice a year in Atlanta, Georgia. Good Hair finally brought Americas best kept secret to the forefront on the big screen to tie in the endless generational strive for Good Hair. The hair show showcased some of the best Hair Stylist in the country, even a caucasian Hair Stylist Jason Griggers who keeps the hair of some of the most well kept clients in the Atlanta area. Griggers clients boast that their Stylist understands the importance of Black women and their hair.
All in all it was an endearing movie that exemplified Chris Rock's love for his daughters and wanting to shed some new light to many Americans and to end the old baggage of slavery that taught and passed to many generations that good hair (Black hair that resembled closely to European texture) was better hair. With so many African Americans including myself wanting to gain natural, healthy, and manageable hair, Good Hair signified that African Americans need to press toward better self image and acceptance of what makes our hair unique
